"Education is the passport to the FUTURE, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it TODAY."
1. Flashcards
Create flashcards about how to answer each of the Language paper questions – what does the question ask you to do? What should you include?
Create flashcards for the Section B parts of the Language papers – writing to narrate and to express opinions. Which techniques apply to each type of writing? How would you plan for these questions?
Create flashcards for spellings you know you often get wrong, such as homophones, or with adventurous vocabulary to use instead of basic words, like ‘happy’, ‘nice’ or ‘bad’. Get someone to test you.
2. Exam Practice- Language Exam Booklets
Write responses to practice questions from the exam paper booklets – use correct timings. Include Sections A and B of Language papers.
Look at mark schemes to see the suggestions of what you could have discussed in your answer. Look at marked student responses. Highlight the different skills shown to help understand how they earned their marks.
Use mock exam feedback to practise specific questions where improvements can be made.
3. Topic Practice
Re-read texts. Create written/visual plot summaries of each chapter/Act. Create a mind map for each character with key quotations and linked context information.
Write out key quotes and stick them on different coloured post-it notes around your room. Arrange them by character/theme/context.
